You need to complete: by booking modules on the Book Activities you can complete the course within 3-5 days or take your time over 12 months.

Part 1 Theory modules 1 - 5 these are can be booked on 'Book Activities" :  
Every Sunday 
Module 1-2  - 09:00 am 
Module 3-5 - 11:30 am


Part 2 Confined water pool these can be booked on 'Book Activities"  
Every Monday evening- Ian Thorpe heated indoor pool - Ultimo
session 1-2 - 6:30 pm
session 3-4 - 7:30 pm  
Sunday TBA

Part 3 Open Water Dives  2 days required 4 dives, these can be booked on 'Book Activities" 
every Tuesday , Saturday  and extra session Sunday (from September 2010)-  Ocean Dives
OW Dive 1 - 09:15 am
OW Dive 2 - 10:30 am
OW Dive 3 - 11:45 am 
OW Dive 4 - 13:25 pm 

Once you've completed the Open Water Course and you're a certified diver you may like to do further courses like Advanced Open Water and Rescue Diver or even go on to become a professional Divemaster, Instructor, Technical Diver, Commercial Diver, or even Military Diver. There are also many diving specialty courses that you can study that will broaden and enhance your underwater experiences.

Are there any costs involved? 

Sydney Underworld offers free training from Learn to dive (open water) to Dive Master (or equivalent) Level. You will never pay for your instructor, your only costs will be based on cost recovery (what it costs us) for external fees and charges we have no control over.

  • Dive gear hire $100 for the course if we have no spare loan equipment and and we are required to outsource rental equipment for you. NOTE : We reimburse you dollar for dollar as a dive store credit, that means $100 credit to put towards any dive membership and/or equipment purchases from the virtual "Dive Shop' 
  • Dive certification card approx $45 (we have no control over this, as it is a fee charged by the certification body to provide International recognised dive card) 
  • Pool entry fees, additional materials required and tank air fills
  • You are responsible for costs of transport to training venues 

  • The training from open water diver, all the way to rescue diver, and dive master is provided at no cost to you. Even with these minimal costs you will generally save between $200 - $500 on each of our courses compared to similar courses offered by dive centres. PlusIf you need to rent dive gear we reimburse you the cost

What equipment to I need?

You won't usually need any equipment when you start to dive as it can all be rented for the duration of the course,however, you may prefer you to buy your own mask, snorkel, and fins or even your own complete dive gear package. Once you're certified there are all sorts of things to buy and many divers love new dive gadgets just as much as the actual diving. We are able to offer a complete scuba dive gear packages on Take home layby over 12 months, we  DO NOT charge any interest ever, and guarantee to provide at the lowest price as part of our philosophy to get as many people involved in scuba as possible.
